Summer slowdown

We recently received an out-of-office email here at bdaily Towers which sparked off a little discussion about the lovely month of August. The email made reference to everyone "shutting down" for the month, and as such, the sender would be "spending time on the beach and going to barbecues".

After chuckling at their misplaced trust in the British weather, we started to wonder exactly how much quieter August actually was. Traditionally Christmas is one of the more sedate times in many offices, but the summer holidays do have a claim to the title. We certainly didn't shut down over the summer, but, from our impromptu (and in no way scientific) poll of friends and relatives, many people do experience a lazy August.

So what about bdaily readers?

This week's Friday Poll asks: has August felt slow to you this year?

  • 44.7%

    Yes, there's hardly anything happening

  • 50%

No, it's the same as always

  • 5.3%

    I don't know, I've been in Spain/France/Hong Kong/wherever
