‘Queen of start-ups’ to help region’s new businesses

Bindi Karia

North East businesses and entrepreneurs will be able to get expert advice from the ‘Queen of start-ups’ next week.

Bindi Karia is to share with the North East’s business community her expertise in helping to catapult new companies from the bedroom to the boardroom.

Mrs Karia earned her status within the UK technology sector after helping launch 2,000 companies in her role as emerging business lead for Microsoft.

North East entrepreneurs and businesses seeking to secure investment for their own ventures have the opportunity to hear first hand what she looks for in a promising new business during a Routes to Investment workshop next Wednesday.

Estelle Chatard, new business and investments director at Newcastle Science City who are running the event, said: “Bindi has helped take hundreds of good ideas from bedroom offices to boardroom tables and we are excited to be bringing her to Newcastle to share her insight with our own entrepreneurs.”

As well as gaining a personal insight from Bindi, attendees will hear from experts in legals and compliance to help them formulate their business plan in preparation for pitching to business angels or venture capitalists.

The free workshop is to be held on Wednesday, May 4 from 8.30am to 2pm, and is part of a series of events aimed at getting businesses investor-ready.
