Last Friday, on the final day of Enterprise Week 2008, young people across the region launched the biggest ever youth summit to arrive in the North East, set to take place in February.

The ‘Cloud 9' summit was launched by graffiti artist entrepreneur Graham Cleland, who performed a street art ‘guerrilla graffiti' demo where he designed the logo design live in the car park of Emmanuel College, Gateshead.

Cloud 9 promises to be the biggest conference of its kind the region has seen with more than 1,000 young people expected to take part. The event will be hosted by the Entrepreneurs' Forum, The Prince's Trust, Make Your Mark, Young Enterprise, North East Enterprise Bond and One North East.

The event will be held at Rainton Meadows Arena on 25 February 2009 and the day will include a Young Enterprise trading area, displays of enterprise projects from the region, interactive speakers' corners with young entrepreneurs willing to share their skills and stories, a Live Challenge and live street art workshops.

Star of TV's The Apprentice Tre Azam is the first confirmed speaker at the summit. He returns to the North East following his star performance at the Entrepreneurs' Forum's recent graduate conference ‘Start Local Think Global'.

Stephen Green of the Entrepreneur's Forum said: "Cloud 9 is the first event that brings together all of the key players in enterprise to light the spark of enterprise in young people. It might be the final day of enterprise week but we hope it will mark the start of an exciting journey for the region's young people. To have the best chance of success we need to encourage them to take advantage of the wisdom on offer from entrepreneurs of all ages who've been there and got the t-shirt and signpost them to the incredibly valuable support available across the region."
