North East teams scoop national Constructing Excellence Awards

North East entries successfully flew the flag for the region’s construction industry by winning two of the ten categories at the national Constructing Excellence Awards.

Frank Haslam Milan North East scooped the Leadership and People Development award, while the team of Turner & Townsend and Northumbria University triumphed in the Value category for the university’s City Campus East.

The awards ceremony, held at Lord’s Cricket Ground, in London, was the culmination of a series of eight regional dinners covering nine regions that took place between April and October.

David Mellor, Managing Director of Frank Haslam Milan North East, said: “It’s fantastic that Frank Haslam Milan North East has been recognised on a national level and demonstrates that we put our people first. Our workforce is critical to our performance and success.”

Paul Humble, Associate Director at Turner & Townsend, said: “As cost managers for City Campus East, Turner & Townsend are delighted that the project has been nationally recognised for value. The award is testament to the team effort and collaborative approach undertaken by the university, project team and contractors throughout the development.”

Catriona Lingwood, Director of Constructing Excellence in the North East, said: “We are delighted that the North East has been recognised in two of the categories on a national level and we would like to congratulate all of our short-listed entries, and especially our two winners.”
