A group of senior North East business people will go down a storm for the Morpeth Flood Appeal when they headline at the City Hall on Sunday 19th October as rock band 55 Degrees.

The 7-piece group play classic covers by a wide array of artists, from The Police to The Rolling Stones, the Kaiser Chiefs to The Beatles, and use their extensive business networks and influence to help raise awareness and funds for worthy causes.   After being moved by the coverage of the Morpeth Floods, 55 Degrees immediately offered their services for an appeal concert.

The event, named River Storm, will feature performances from three other local bands and promises to be a night to remember. 55 Degrees drummer Larry Roberts said:  “We’ve raised money for other charities like Water Aid in the past, but it’s difficult to ignore something so devastating practically on your doorstep.  We know it’ll be a long haul for almost 1000 families so we’re keen to do all we can to help.”

Castle Morpeth Borough Council Chief Executive Ken Dunbar voiced his appreciation of the support 55 Degrees are lending to the appeal: “It’s brilliant to see the business community rallying round to help with everyone giving their services at no cost to us.  River Storm looks set to be a great night out as well as a great way to support the Morpeth Lions Flood Appeal.”

Tickets for River Storm cost £10, available from City Hall Box Office on 0191 261 2606.
