ICE tells companies to step forward

Date 16 Nov 2007

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East is calling for more clients, consultants and contractors to enter its 2008 Robert Stephenson Awards to demonstrate the quality of civil engineering projects in the region.

Members of the ICE either based or working in the North East are invited to enter the awards, which are designed to recognise excellence in civil engineering, as well as the merits of design and construction.

Winners and runners-up will be named in the two categories, for projects costing less and more than £2m, completed within 24 months of November 2007. Awards will be presented at ICE North East's annual dinner, to be held in April 2008 at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel.

Stephen Larkin, ICE North East's regional manager, said: "The Robert Stephenson Awards continue to gain prestige year on year. The quality of work being conducted across the region is very high and it is only right that we celebrate such achievements, but we can only do so if those involved put themselves forward for the awards.

"We are looking forward to hearing about the civil engineering projects that make the North East such a vibrant and exciting region to work in."

The deadline for formal written entries is Friday, January 25, 2008. However, intent to submit an entry should be given to awards scheme secretary, Alan Surtees, in advance on 0191-2726133.
