Research conducted by telecommunications supplier Unicom found that 45% of small enterprises feel worse off under the Prime Minister's rule. Only 5.2% of companies said that they felt better under Brown.

Following research revealing that small business owners are networking less, serial entrepreneur and Dragons' Den star James Caan has urged businesses to make a concerted effort to network.

Research by T-Mobile found that over 80% of senior decision makers at small companies have reduced time spent at traditional face-to-face networking events for fear of being out of the office for too long.

UK entrepreneurs prefer to keep working after retirement age, according to new research.

A new survey by Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank shows that 23% of small business owners put off retirement because they enjoy running their business too much, while 21% said they had no plans to retire at all.

Nunthorpe School Makes its Mark

A group of enterprising students from Nunthorpe Specialist Business and Enterprise School have been crowned North East regional winners of the 2008 Make Your Mark Challenge, thanks to help from the Redcar and Cleveland enterprise team.

The Make Your Mark Challenge 2008 challenged students to devise a business idea based around the values associated with the 2012 Olympics or Paralympics. This is the first year schools from Redcar and Cleveland entered the competition, which requires students to produce a business plan and supporting financial information for their enterprising idea.
