People across the North East are being given the opportunity to have their voices heard and their opinions documented through a new interactive website.

With over 2000 filmed responses already posted on the website, and close to 150,000 hits since it launched in October 2008, FlipSide is already proving a hit with the public.

Glowmobiles world debut appearance

Artists are racing against the clock to get three brand new Glowmobiles ready for their world debut appearance on Tyneside on New Year's Eve.

A pedal-powered airship, a musical art-inspired ice-cream van, and a pick-up truck turned Ice Palace, are gearing up to join a glowing parade of mechanical, illuminated vehicles for the NewcastleGateshead Winter Festival.

Free tickets at Newcastle theatres

Three of Newcastle upon Tyne's principal theatres will be offering free theatre tickets to young people as part of a drive to reach new audiences.

Live Theatre, Northern Stage and the Theatre Royal have been offered funding for the next two years as a part of Arts Council England's national scheme, the Free Theatre Initiative.

Public back move to save estate

Efforts to save a historic stately home in Northumberland for the nation are close to success, according to fundraisers.

The National Trust is attempting to raise Â£6.3m by the end of the year to buy Seaton Delaval Hall, of which Â£2m must come from the public. The trust said it had so far attracted Â£1.5m in public donations.

Northern Rock charity gives £2.7m

The charitable arm of struggling bank Northern Rock has donated grants of Â£2.7m to charities across Cumbria and the North East of England.

The Northern Rock Foundation cash will help poverty-stricken families and disadvantaged young people. It will also be used to support the homeless and those facing discrimination in the region.

Tyne & Wear Museums Business Partners have been showing their continued support for the region's galleries and museums despite the current recession.

The Business Partners are all members of the arts-based business partnership, Connecting through Culture, and their membership fees help to support museum wide projects via the Business Partners Fund.
