    "In Conversation With...Tom Fenwick Brown"
This event is hosted by microcomputing
From an unlikely start in life of leaving school with no formal educational qualifications, and a 'red-lined'
postal address in North Tyneside, Tom Fenwick Brown can rightly boast a veritable war chest of practical,
real world, tried and tested experience of what works (and what doesn't) in the 21st Century sales
profession! With a 37 year history in senior sales and general management with leading brand names
including Pfizer, Black & Decker and Sony (where he was responsible for annual sales revenue of £110M)
Tom went on to establish his own company with sales of £5M. A mind-numbing encounter with 'early
retirement' made Tom seek new challenges and by bumping into the CEO of Sandler Training, the world's
largest sales & sales management training organisation he decided to establish a Sandler Training centre
in the North East. For any business owner who is struggling with the complexities of the sales process, is
frustrated by lack-lustre sales performance, wants to understand how to retain integrity of purpose yet
still sell, or simply doesn't believe that huge increases in existing business is attainable by embracing
modern sales techniques such as Tom's, this conversation is a must!
    Event Details:
    Date: Tuesday, 16th September 2008
    Time: 6:00pm-8:30pm
Venue: microcomputing, Unit 3, The Bulrushes, Woodstock Way, Boldon Business Park, Boldon, NE35

Geordie food-lovers have the chance to sample some of the region’s finest foods at a special food festival in the centre of Newcastle this weekend.

The ‘Cook, Eat and Enjoy’ food festival will be held at Old Eldon Square from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday (27 and 28 September) with shoppers able to sample food from the North East, Cumbria, Yorkshire and beyond.

Grainger Market-based ‘mmm…’ will be tempting foodies with samples of Northumberland rapeseed oil, Cumbrian chutneys and jams, as well as selling locally produced pickles, sauces, flours and other foods.

Simone Clarkin, who set up mmm… to sell handmade and interesting foods from the local area and further afield, is pleased to be supporting the event, which has been organised by Newcastle City Council.

Simone said: “Our philosophy is to sell foods from close to home with smaller producers who share our passion for good food and quality of life.

“Many of our products are handmade locally using traditional methods with the finest natural ingredients, meaning you can truly taste the difference.

“This means they not only taste fantastic, but are good value for money, good for you, the environment and the community.”
