South Shields will be in carnival-mood this Saturday for a day celebrating the launch of a new business advice centre for people who are thinking about starting their own businesses or are running a business.

Running from 10am-3pm, the celebrations include free rickshaw rides, floral demonstrations and professional photography lessons, courtesy of local businesses, and takes place at 25-27 Market Square to promote Business Matters.

The first 75 people through the door can receive a free family portrait and complimentary manicures are available throughout the day. A children's entertainer will keep the kids occupied with magic and balloon modelling and children under 16 will receive a free advent calendar.

The walk-in business advice outlet - which also has premises in Jarrow and Hebburn, aims to attract local people who have a good idea for business and need support to make it a reality. Visitors to the centre can expect to receive expert advice about developing their idea and what to do next.

During the event, there will be a number of demonstrations to illustrate the range of businesses in South Tyneside and local business people will be on hand to give talks about their own experience and tips on how to get started.

For more information on starting a business in South Tyneside visit the Business Matters Outlet in South Shields or one of its sister sites in Hebburn or Jarrow which are open Monday - Friday. Alternatively, call 0845 460 33 33 or visit www.southtynesidemeansbusiness.com
