A North East centre for people with disabilities has benefitted from Business Link County Durham’s recent business start up campaign in the Durham area. Business Link County Durham has donated five trees to Pretoria Court which comprises Edmundbyers House Care Home and the Stanhope Disabled Living Centre, part of Four Seasons Health Care. The trees were originally used by Business Link to spark some entrepreneurial thinking in the area.

They will now be enjoyed by residents and staff at Pretoria Court in Consett, County Durham, who will plant the large ‘Eriobotrya Japonica’ trees in their garden court area, where they are expected to grow to over nine feet tall.

Christine Marr, home manager, said: "We are delighted with the generosity of Business Link. The trees will help further enhance the environment around the home, which, of course, is so important to the residents who live here. "The trees will brighten up the garden, and encourage more residents to use the area as a peaceful and tranquil place to relax. We have already had great feedback – both staff and residents think the trees are a beautiful addition to our gardens."

The trees were originally scattered throughout the County by Business Link County Durham as part of their What’s Yours? campaign. Following the theme of ‘money trees’, the branches were adorned with flyers designed in the shape of bank notes, encouraging people to grow their own fortune by starting a business in County Durham.

Edd Smith, enterprise project manager at Business Link County Durham said: "The money trees theme was used to capture the imagination of people to help inspire them to set up their own businesses. We are pleased that the trees will continue to be put to good use, and can be enjoyed by a local community project."
