A new organisation offering an on-line brokerage facility for the waste management sector has been launched in the Tees Valley. Resource Network North East Limited (ResNET) is the first organisation in the region to become accredited to run the Chartered Institute of Waste Management's (CIWM) one-day Waste Awareness Course.

The brokerage service (www.resnetnortheast.org) will enable a wide range of organisations to ‘market' their waste to the businesses and community groups who can realise its commercial potential.

The website will serve as an information portal for businesses and community groups in the waste management sector, while ResNET itself seeks to develop partnerships that will help it to influence policy at local, regional and national level.

ResNET was conceived and developed by three organisations with experience of the region's waste management sector: Renew Tees Valley (RTV), the North East Social Enterprise Partnership (NESEP) and Recycling IT (Europe) Limited, a company which pioneered the recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the Tees Valley.

For further information, contact Chris Hayward of Renew Tees Valley at chayward or call 01642 438420.
