Visit opens door to Mexico for North East firms

Date 20 Aug 2007

North East firms are being offered the chance to explore the many opportunities to do business in Mexico. As part of its ongoing programme of market visits, UK Trade & Investment will be organising a trip to Mexico in November to enable companies to find out more about the market and meet potential customers.

Simon Crosby, a senior UK Trade & Investment International Trade Advisers, who will accompany the group, said: "Mexico is one of the most open trading countries in the world and offers significant business opportunities following the signing of a free trade agreement with the European Union in January this year.

"In addition to the traditional sectors of engineering, automotive and chemicals, fast-growing areas also include healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental and consumer products. It is a rapidly growing market right across all the sectors and represents a tremendous opportunity for all North East businesses to break into exporting in South America. We'd urge anyone who would like to have an insight into the business culture in Mexico and more specifically the export potential for their own firm to join us."

The Mexico Market Visit, 24 November-1 December 2007, will enable delegates to explore the market with like-minded businesses and receive the full support of an International Trade Adviser prior to, during and after the visit.

Eligible companies may also receive a financial contribution towards the costs of the visit from UK Trade & Investment. For more information or to book a place contact the North East International Trade Hotline on 0845 05 05 054 or email enquiries.
