North East businesses have a second chance for funded IT support, it was announced this week. A further 650 North East businesses will receive assistance or funding for innovative ICT and internet projects with the extension of the Catalyst project. Managed by the North East Regional Portal (TNERP) and supported by One NorthEast, the scheme will launch in the New Year with a series of events for potential applicants and suppliers. It is expected to run until March 2008.

Project manager Maria Humphreys said: “This project will follow in the footsteps of the original Catalyst project, which helped over 500 North East businesses. “This time we are offering assistance for 650 businesses through workshops, and 260 eligible North East firms will receive funding for ICT and e-business specific projects. “Catalyst 2 will offer up to 50% funding for a maximum of £2,000. Its longer term aim is to ensure that North East businesses are in a position to successfully take advantage of regional, national and international markets and boost their productivity.”
