Christmas networking for young professionals

Date 18 Dec 2007

The region's young professionals are being encouraged not to forget about networking over the Christmas period. The North East's junior networking and personal development organisation, the JCI (Junior Chamber International) is inviting them to attend the Chamber's annual Holly Ball on Boxing Day.

The Holly Ball, which is being held in conjunction with St Oswalds Hospice, will be held at the Marriot Gosforth Park on Boxing Day. The event aims to raise funds for charities across the region and its main target is to raise £3000 for a new minibus. The JCI is supporting the event as a way to encourage budding professionals to network.

Phil Dean, president of the JCI North East, said: "The Holly Ball is the perfect time for young business professionals in the region to network. Last year the Ball saw over 700 attendees, which makes it an ideal opportunity to gain experience in talking to other people in their industry and making new contacts. Guests are sure to include like minded people who may be working in similar industries and wanting to have a good time whilst meeting new people.

"Some networking events can uneasy and cliquey, which might turn some people off, however the Christmas season is the perfect time to network as people are more relaxed and in a cheery frame of mind. We all have common things to talk about over the Christmas period and therefore it is easier for people to open up."

The Holly Ball is a black tie event that will include live music and a disco, breakfast will also be served after midnight. Tickets to the Ball are already on sale and can be bought from St Oswalds hospice in Newcastle or by calling Tina O'Hara on 07868 703 127.
