X-Factor style auditions for keep-fit kidz

Date 16 Apr 2007

A local dance teacher and her staff are taking steps to help promote health and fitness in kids by allowing local children to audition to be a part of a special keep fit DVD, designed especially for youngsters between the ages of seven and 11 years old.

Claire Hanson, owner of DanceStepz DanceSkule, along with her staff and business partner Richard Flood, are to make a children's keep fit DVD with all proceeds being donated to two of the largest charities in the North East. The Evening Chronicle's Sunshine Fund and Metro Radio's Just for Kids are to receive 20% each from the proceeds of the sale of the DVD.

Claire said: "As a child dancer through to adulthood, I have successfully maintained a healthy lifestyle with the help of dance and wanted to show the kids that fitness can be fun and doesn't always have to be a sweaty gym session as the only option of keeping fit.”

Auditions are taking place at the Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 21 April, 10am-4pm for children aged between seven and 11 years old who wish to be considered for a part in the DVD. For more information about hoe to take part, visit
